Another season, another club newsletter including details of changes to the published date of this year's Glasgow Open.

September Beginners Course

The club is running another 10 week beginners course from September to November 2006. Places are strictly limited so book early since the last course was over subscribed.

Summer Programme

Full details of our special Summer Programme can be found in the newsletter, but here is a brief list:

  • July 6 — Foil competition
  • July 13 — Epee and Sabre night
  • July 27 — Sport Psychology
  • Aug 3 — Armoury Night
  • Aug 31 — Open night - come and try fencing

So that some of our more infrequent members can keep up with what's going on at the club we have produced the first in a series of newsletters. Following Scottish Fencing's good example, this is available in PDF format - although some printed copies will be available at the club.
If you have any comments or items for inclusion in the next newsletter, please mail them to The closing date for submissions for the next issue is August 26.

Beginners Course

The club will be organising the another 10 week beginners course running from April to June 2006. Places are strictly limited so book early since the last course was over subscribed.

Beginners Course

Since the demise of Strathclyde University's Further Education Fencing class, the club has been asked about running some formal beginners coaching. So starting in January we will be organising the first of these 10 week courses - hopefully, these will be repeated throughout the year and may lead on to some intermediate level courses.

Highland Open

Details and entry forms have been added to the Competitions page. We are looking for a large turn out from GWEFC at this year's Highland - and to have everyone make their check-in too. Maria has been challenged with organising us.

West End Festival

Members of the club will be demonstrating (ie recruiting) at the Glasgow West End Festival on Sunday 12, June - come and see us between 2 - 3pm near the flagpole in the Botanic Gardens.
