Veterans 4 Nations - Result

Scotland came 2nd overall in the recent Veterans 4 Nations International in Dublin.  Some great results for our teams, especially the Women's Sabre team who won all their matches.

Also well done to Fiona Jamieson, stepping in at the last minute to complete our Women's Foil team - and holding her own in her first competition.

Results for fencers from our club:

  • Women's Foil - Fiona Jamieson - Broze
  • Men's Sabre - Keith Davidson - Silver
  • Men's Epee - Mark McKenzie - Silver

Glasgow Open 2013 - Results

As in previous years, when not running the cafe (or DT) some of our members participated in the actual competition of the Glasgow Open 2013.

In the Ladies' Foil there were good results for

  • Helen Pitt, L16
  • Maria Cabrelli, L16
  • Ruth Davidson, L32

In the Men's Epee and Foil, Simon and Kris (a couple of our recent beginners) managed great results for their first Open competition - and it being the largest competition in Scotland.

Epee 48er - Results

Some brave souls battled through the snow to attend the recent Wallace Fencing Epee 48er competition:

  • Poule 2
    • Bronze - Duncan MacFadyen
  • Poule 3
    • Bronze - Colin MacInnes
    • 5th - Kris Moodley

The next 48er will be a Foil one on 11th May - entry online at http://www.wallacefencing.org.uk/~wfa/page158.html

That event is the final in a series of 6 48ers with the cash prizes awarded to the top 3 overall competitors.

Scottish Veterans Team Selections

The team Scotland selection for this year's Veterans Home International match has been announced by Scottish Fencing.

Included in the teams are Mark McKenzie (Epee), Keith Davidson (Sabre) and Fiona Jamieson (Foil) from GWEFC.

The Veterans 5 Nations is being held this year in Dublin on May 4th & 5th and represents a great opportunity for another strong Scottish performance.

Dundee Duel - Results

The Dundee Duel is an unique annual 1-hit Epee competition, where competitors compete both individually and as part of a team.  Several of our fencers attended this year's event:

  • 9th - Duncan MacFadyen
  • 12th - Mark McKenzie
  • 25th - Greig Marshall
  • 49th - Kris Moodley
  • 63rd - Sarah Loughran

Monday Night Training

Several members of the club are discussing the idea of an additional "Bring Your Own Kit" training night - probably to be held on a Monday evening in the West End.  If you are interested please speak to Paul, Kris or Simon.

Full details not finalised but we expect that there will be one or more coaches at these training evenings.

There will probably be at least 1 electic box but no other kit to borrow - so Bring Your Own.
